Doha: Qatar Football Association (QFA) and ROTA announced at a press conference held at QFA’s Headquarters, Al Bidda Tower, that the Emir Cup semifinals ticket sales proceeds will be donated to the earthquake victims in Nepal through ROTA’s development and relief projects.
ROTA and QFA have also organised an initiative to place donation boxes around Al Sadd Stadium before the semis kick off this Friday at 5:30pm and 8:00pm. Funds that are donated by the spectators will go towards ROTA’s local and regional projects.
Mansoor Al Ansari, QFA’s Secretary General commented: “We are very happy to be donating the Emir Cup semifinals ticket proceeds to support the people of Nepal who have suffered a great loss as a result of the devastating earthquake. QFA continuously involves its partner non-profit and charitable organisations in its leagues and competitions for the aim of raising funds to help those who are in need. ROTA is a renowned charity organisation known for its outstanding humanitarian work and we are proud to be partnering with them to try to change the lives of people living in underprivileged communities, especially during such tough times.”
Commenting on the allocation of ticket proceeds to ROTA, Mohamed Al Naama, ROTA’s Acting Executive Director said: “Our collaboration with QFA is one of a kind as we jointly aim to reach out to different communities locally and regionally. We thank QFA’s interest in ROTA's mission and for sharing with us the same humanitarian beliefs to help the earthquake victims in Nepal.”
QFA and ROTA signed an MoU last year that sets out the commitment of both parties to support the advancement of youth capabilities and furthering long-term development and leadership capacity-building.
The Emir Cup final match will be held in Al Gharafa Stadium on 23rd May. The venue has a capacity of 25,000 spectators. It has 12 gates designated for spectators, media, families, and VIP spectators.
