Bangkok: Qatar coach Oscar Fernandez was disappointed after watching his side held to a 1-1 draw by Syria on Tuesday, in their second Group D match of the AFC U-16 championship but he had no regrets about the tactics and line-up employed as his side created more than enough chances to score but failed to convert.
"I am very sad to not win this match," said Fernandez, whoonly made two changes to the starting line-up he fielded 48 hours earlier against Iran.
"You can see in the match that we were cohesive and we created lots of chances, but we missed a last minute penalty as well".
"Our opponent hadn't have any opportunities except for the last ten minutes. So I am so sorry that we couldn't muster more than a single point out of this match".
However, Fernandez remained positive about Qatar's chances of progressing to the knockout stage, " the group is still open to all possibilities, a win against the Saudis could see us through eventually".
