DOHA: FIFA has officially approved the use of the Video Assistant Referee “VAR” in all competitions of the Qatar Football Association (QFA) after the success of involving the video assistant referee in full competitions for three consecutive seasons.
The success story of the last three seasons gives QFA the authority to continue to apply this mechanism in the future after it acquired an official status from FIFA.
This decision has been announced following a letter sent by FIFA to QFA which noted Qatar has successfully conducted the use of VAR for three full seasons and can do so in the future also.
The FIFA Refereeing Department expressed its thanks and appreciation to QFA and the VAR team for the fruitful cooperation over the past years and the success in using the video technology.
