RIYADH: The draw for the 22nd edition of Gulf Cup - the region's premier football event - will be held on Tuesday.
The 22nd Gulf Cup will be staged in Riyadh from November 13 to 26 when hosts Saudi Arabia will be joined by teams from Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq and Yemen.
Saudi Arabi will be placed in the first group while the second group will be headed by the defending champions UAE.
The rest of the teams will be placed according to their FIFAmonthly rankings, details have revealed.
Currently Oman are ranked 69 followed by Qatar (86), Iraq (89), Bahrain (105), Kuwait (107) and Yemen (108).
In the previous edition held in January 2013, the UAE beat Iraq in overtime to clinch the title in Bahrain.
The first Gulf Cup tournament took place in Bahrain in 1970, and was won by the Kuwaiti team. The Gulf Cup has witnessed increased attendance in the stadiums in recent years.
This has been in particular due to Qatar's role in expanding and improving the competition at home and the region.
