Basrah, Iraq: Qatar coach Bruno Pinheiro on Friday said his team's opening clash against Kuwait in the Gulf Cup would be "tough."
Qatar, with a young side, appears in the Gulf Cup as three-time champions. On Friday, Pinheiro said, "The Gulf Cup is an important assignment for us. "

Pinheiro talked about Qatar's subpar results at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where the hosts lost all three matches under Spanish coach Felix Sanchez.
"The results at the World Cup were normal because of the pressure," Pinheiro said during the press conference held ahead of Qatar's opening match. "It goes without saying that the competition is fierce. All teams are here to win the title," Pinheiro said." he added.
The coach stated, "The next match is the most essential now," in reference to the next contest against Kuwait. Our goals are high, and we approach each game with thorough preparation.
Qatar, three-time winners of the Gulf Cup, are in Group B, featuring defending champions Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. Group A includes hosts Iraq, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Oman.
