Iran's Hosseini completes move to Al Ahli

DOHA: QSL side Al Ahli have signed international centre-back Jalal Hosseini on a season-long deal. The 32-year-old Iran international joins Qatar's oldest club after two season at Tehran giants Persepolis, which followed a three-year stint at Sepahan. Al Ahli General Secretary Waleed Al Hitmi said: "Jalal is a player who will help us to increase the competitiveness of the group. "This is a side that can act in both attack and defence and the transfer makes us even more versatile. We are very pleased with this agreement." Hosseini was a member ofIran national under-23 football team, participating in the2006 Asian Games. He debuted for the seniornational teamin a friendly match againstBelarusin February 2007. Having joinedTeam Melliagain in July 2007, he played in all four of Iran's matches and scored Iran's first goal in its opening match at the2007 Asian CupagainstUzbekistan. He was called again for the2010 FIFA World Cup qualificationand2014 FIFA World Cup qualificationmatches. He also played in2011 AFC Asian Cup qualificationforTeam Melliand2015 AFC Asian Cup qualification. He featured inWest Asian Football Federation Championship 2010and2011 Asian Cup. On 1 June 2014, he was called intoIran's2014 FIFA World Cupsquad byCarlos Queiroz.
