Doha: Qatar's international referee Abdul Hadi Al-Ruwaili recently wrapped up a successful stint in Japan, where he officiated several J-League matches. This opportunity is part of a broader exchange program between the Qatari and Japanese Football Associations aimed at elevating the skills and experience of Qatari referees.
During his time in Japan, Al-Ruwaili officiated three key fixtures in the J-League: Nagoya Grampus vs Kawasaki Frontale, Sagan Tosu vs Avispa Fukuoka, and Gamba Osaka vs Consadole Sapporo. His participation in these matches contributed to the smooth running of the games while providing him with valuable exposure in one of Asia’s top football leagues.
In addition to match officiating, Al-Ruwaili took part in an intensive referees' camp hosted by the Japanese Football Association (JFA). This camp included a blend of theoretical lessons, technical training, and physical fitness evaluations. He also worked closely with Japanese referees, further honing his skills at the JFA's headquarters.
As a gesture of appreciation for his contribution, the JFA presented Al-Ruwaili with a special gift before his departure: a Japanese national team jersey featuring his name, symbolizing the strong collaboration between the two football associations.
