RIYADH: Qatar team manager Fareed Mahboub was positive after watching his side held to a 1-1 draw by Saudi Arabia on Thursday, in their first Group A match of currently taking place in Saudi Arabia.
“It was a very tough game against a strong team but our players acquitted themselves well and were up for the challenge,” Mahboub said, whose side will face a showdown with Yemen on Sunday.
He remained positive about Qatar’s chances of progressing to the semi-finals, ” the group is still open to all possibilities, a win against the Yemenis could see us through eventually”.
“Even when they went a goal down they kept their heads and, in the end, a draw was a fair result.”
A win first up will definitely help the side gain in momentum,” he added.
