RIYADH: Qatar national team director Fareed Mahboub praised coach Djamal
Belmadi for his scrupulous planning after Qatar's 2-1 triumph over
Saudi Arabia to clinch the Gulf Cup for the first time away from home soil.
The former Al Rayyan keeper said: I dedicate this accomplishment for
everyone in Qatar, it has been ten years since the last time we enjoyed
such achievement, such matches are played on fine details, and on our
bench, we had Belmadi, who proved to be the right man for the job.
He continued: while preparing for this tournament, everyone in the Qatar
camp knew that our boys have what it takes to emerge victorious by the
end of the competition, we will not stop here, we will be gunning for a
similar showing in the Asian Cup in Australia.
The Qatar squad is expected to receive a warm welcome home when they
return to Doha later tonight.
