HAMILTON: Qatar's first ever international clash against Portugal on Wednesday will be a serious affair on the pitch, if influential forward Nuno Santos is to be believed. On Wednesday, both teams will play their second Group C game at Waikato Stadium on day five of the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Both teams are staying at the same hotel but yet the players of Qatar and Portugal don't seem to have developed long-term friendships. "We cross each other at the hotel but we don't chat," Santos said on Tuesday. "We don't start a conversation - we just say hi, or good morning or good afternoon," the 20-year-old said on Tuesday. "We know about each from what we see on the pitch," Santos said at a pre-match press conference. "Yes, they play in Europe but we don't have enough contact and some of them don't play in the same leagues," he added. Qatar defender Fahad Shanin said on Tuesday: "We are looking forward to this game. We have studied their videos. We feel ready. Portugal is a strong team and for us to beat them, we have to be at our best." Santos said: "All the matches are crucial. We always play to win. We know that Qatar is a great team. They can put us in difficult situations. We know that but we are capable of doing our best." The tall Benfica player said: "Fear is not part of our dictionary. Our players know what to do. Not just here but through the times they have started this journey. They have conquered teams. It (wins) wasn't presented to them." Senegal and Colombia are the two other Group C sides.
