CANBERRA: Qatar on Tuesday stretched their unbeaten streak to 11
matches following their 3-1 win over Wellington FC.
Coached by Djamel Belmadi, Qatar now switch their attention to the
2015 Asian Cup which kicks off on January 9.
After arriving in Australia on December 28, Qatar played a friendly
against Oman on December 31. The match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Prior to leaving for Australia, Qatar hammered Estonia 3-0 in Doha to
keep momentum they picked up at November's Gulf Cup which they won by
beating hosts Saudi Arabia in the final.
Qatar's win over Wellington FC proved to be good match practice for
Bualem Khouky who joined Ibrahim Maged and Abdullah Mishal as goal
scorers.
Now Qatar switch their attention to the first Asian Cup fixture on
January 11 against the UAE.
Qatar will play against Iran and Bahrain in their remaining Group C fixtures.
After a day's rest on Tuesday, Qatar will resume training on Wednesday
ahead of their first game on January 11.
Qatar are aiming to go better than their two quarterfinals finishes in
past events.
