DOHA: Asian champions Qatar have dropped dropped 10 places in the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men's World Rankings issued on Thursday.
Qatar's latest rankings of 44 has followed the team results in the first and second rounds of Group A matches in the third stage of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Qatar lost to the UAE 1-3 and drew 2-2 with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the last 10 days.
Last month the Qatari team was ranked 34 with 1481.69 points. Peru are in 43th spot while Romania are 45th.
Qatar team came in fifth place in the ranking of the top 10 Arab teams and fifth in the ranking of Asian teams.
The Japanese national team maintained its lead in the Asian teams rankings, advancing to 16th place globally.
The Iranian national team maintained its second place among Asian teams , advancing to 19th place globally. The South Korean national team remained in 23rd place while Australia dropped to 25th place .

Qatar are fifth Arab country in Asia and Africa
At the Arab level , the Moroccan national team maintained its position at the top despite falling to 14th place globally, followed by the Egyptian, Tunisian and Algerian national teams in 31st , 36th and 41st places globally.

Globally, a total of 184 international matches were played across all six confederations during September 2024 , with the programme including 2026 FIFA World Cup ™ qualifiers in Asia , Oceania and South America , while the rest of the world saw continental competitions and friendly matches. The results of this month ’s matches had a significant impact on the FIFA / Coca -Cola Men ’s World Rankings.
As the struggle for the top spot became fierce , after Argentina (1) was defeated by Colombia (2-1) and France (2) lost to Italy (1-3), the world champion and runner-up are threatened by the meteoric rise of Spain ( 3) and England (4) as well as their Brazilian (5) and Belgian (6) counterparts , who continue to press from behind. For their part , the Netherlands (7) , Portugal (8) , Colombia (9) and Italy (10) complete the list of the top ten teams , in which the teams are fluctuating in places.
There are no notable changes beyond 15th place , with Japan (16th , +2) , Iran (19th , +1) and Denmark (20th , +1 ) all moving up the table.
In the top 50 , Egypt (31st , +5), Ivory Coast (33rd , +5 ), Tunisia (36th , +5), Algeria (41st , +5) and Greece (48th , +6) all making progress.
Bolivia (83 , +6) made the biggest jump in points ( +35.20 points ) , while Kenya (102 , +6) and Saint Lucia (164 , +6) made a qualitative leap in the world rankings , while Brunei Darussalam (183 , +7 ) and Samoa (185 , +7) made the biggest jumps in terms of positions on the back of their consecutive victories.
At the bottom of the table , San Marino (210 ) managed to end their winless run since April 2004 , finally tasting victory after a drought of 140 consecutive matches . After twenty years of waiting , the blue and whites managed to overcome Liechtenstein (1-0 ) , the same opponent against whom they had previously won and by the same scoreline .
