BAKU, Azerbaijan: Qatar face Azerbaijan on Sunday at Baku Olympic Stadium in the last round of their European qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.
Qatar, the Asian champions, are placed in Group A with Serbia, Portugal, Ireland and Luxembourg.
Coached by Felix Sanchez, Qatar seek to end their participation in the European qualifiers with a good performance as the side will return to Doha to prepare for the FIFA Arab Cup starting in Qatar on November 30.
Qatar entered the European qualifiers at the invitation of UEFA last year.
Qatar underwent a comprehensive training session at the match venue - the largest in Azerbaijan - on Saturday with only absence being regular skipper Hassan Al Haydos.
Akram Afif also took part in the training session along with defender Pedro Miguel and Sultan Al-Buraik.
"Qatar team seeks to present a good match and emerge with a positive result," a team official said on Saturday.
"Winning the match would be good for the morale of the players who will appear in the FIFA Arab Cup later this month," the official added.
Azerbaijan would be hoping to break a four-match losing streak against Qatar on Sunday.
