BASRA, Iraq: Bahrain on Tuesday rallied from a goal down to beat Qatar 2-1 at the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup.
In the 34th minute, Ahmed Alaaeldin scored the game's first goal for Qatar with a spectacular snap-header, putting the defending Asian champions up, 1-0.
Bahrain, the defending champions, tied the game with an own goal by Qatar's Mohamed Waad in the 72nd minute.
Abdullah Yusuf Helal converted a penalty in the 89th minute to give Bahrain the lead at Al Minaa Stadium.
Earlier on Tuesday, following a second consecutive loss, 1-0 against Kuwait, the UAE national team formally bowed out of the 25th Gulf Cup.
Substitute Ahmed Al-Dhafiri scored the game's lone goal in the 94th minute.
