RIYADH: Qatar's chief target is to reach the final of the Gulf Cup and
the squad is not taking their semifinal opponents Oman lightly in
their clash on Sunday, assistant coach Serg Romano said on Saturday.
Sitting in for coach Djamel Belmadi - who was reported to be down with
flu - Romanao said on Saturday: "It will be a difficult game as Oman
has strong players but our target is to reach the final."
Romanao added: "In terms of preparation, we are ready and we are
feeling good. We have carried out our customary drills without
hassles."
The Qatari team official pointed that Oman scored five goals against
Kuwait in their last match.
"I think everybody understands the importance of this match," Romanao said.
"We've got a group of enterprising young players," he added.
"Oman presented a classy show two days ago so we are ready to counter
that," he said.
Qatar reached the semifinals with draws against Saudi
Arabia, Yemen and Bahrain.
