CANBERRA: Qatar squad on Friday underwent rigorous training ahead of
their final friendly in lead up to next week's Asian Cup, the region's
top football event.
Qatar who arrived in Canberra on Sunday face New Zealand on January 5
at the Australian Institute of Sport.
Friday's training sessions were headed by coach Djamel Belmadi who has
guided the team to 11 matches without a loss ahead of their friendly
against New Zealand.
On December 31, 2014, Qatar drew with Oman 2-2 at the same venue.
The Asian Cup will be held across Australia from January 9 to 31.
Qatar's first game is against the UAE on January 11.
Other teams in Group C include Bahrain and Iran.
The region's top 16 teams will feature at the three-week event which
was last held in Doha in 2011.
