DOHA: Qatar have slipped six places to 92nd in the latest Fifa rankings, a position from which new Qatar coach Djamal Belmadi will feel the only way is up. Qatar, now coached by Djamel Belmadi, have accumulated 348 points. Qatar will compete in the 22nd Gulf Cup set to take place in November in Saudi Arabia. The Gulf Cup will be the first major assignment for Qatar’s Algerian coach Djamel Belmadi, who took charge in March. A fine show in Riyadh will help Qatar boost their confidence ahead of the gruelling Asian Cup in Australia next January. Ranked 100 at the end of last FIFA rankings issued two months ago, Qatar have jumped an unprecedented 14 spots in the ranking revealed last month. Germany has remained the top team in the world rankings, followed by Argentina, the Netherlands, Colombia, and Belgium, in an unchanged top five. Spain jumped up one spot to No. 7 in a tie with Brazil, both behind Uruguay, and Switzerland and France round out the top 10.
