Qatar to play Wellington FC in friendly

CANBERRA: Qatar will play a friendly against Wellington FC in a rescheduled fixture on January 5, Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced on Saturday. Qatar who are in Australia to prepare for next week's Asian Cup were scheduled to play against New Zealand on January 5. However, with the non-availability of New Zealand team players - who appear for their sides in various European leagues - has forced QFA to schedule a game against Wellington FC. Al Anabi will play their game against Wellington at Cenberra's Australian Institute of Sport pitch where they played against Oman three days ago. Qatar take on the UAE on January 11 followed by games games against Iran (January 15) and Bahrain (January 19)in Group C of the Asian Cup. Coach Djamel Belmdai is heading the Qatar squad's training sessions in Canberra, the home base for Al Anabi during their Asian Cup trip. Meanwhile Asian Cup organizers have also announced the media schedules for Qatar in Group C. Qatar coach Belmadi will address the media in a traditional gathering where press persons meet coaches of the teams featuring in the event. AH3Q2587
