DOHA: Qatar U-23 scored four times in the opening 28 minutes to defeat Tanzania 5-2 on Wednesday as the Fahad Thani led team continued preparations for the U-23 GCC championship with an international friendly at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium. Qatar raced into a quick lead on 5 minutes through, just one minute later, midfielder Abdulmajeed Anad added the second to pave the way for an easy victory. Nasser Khalfan, headed home Anad's 20th minute free kick to make it 3-0, before Anad again provided the assist for number four in the 28th minute when the Al Rayyan midfielder played a neat pass for Hilal Mohammed to end the first session with a four-goal lead. Qatar dropped their intensity after the blistering start and allowed their East African visitors to half the deficitthrough two goals from the penalty spot. Saoud Al Kholaqi added Qatar's fifth on 81 minutes. Fahad Thani’s men will face Tanzania once again next Friday, before taking on Senegal in another tune-up on May 20. Qatar’s Olympic squad is set to compete in the 2014 Asian Games in Korea next November.
