AL AIN: Qatar will start training here in UAE city Al Ain on Sunday ahead of their opening AFC Asian Cup match.
The Qatar squad along with coach Felix Sanchez arrived in the city of Al Ain on Saturday evening after a long and arduous journey that started at 3:00 pm from Hamad International Airport in Doha and ended in Al Ain at 9:00 pm passing through Kuwait International Airport.
The delegation was accompanied by His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Qatar Football Association (QFA).
Despite the long journey and its hardships, QFA President was keen to be present with the squad to raise the players' morale and emphasized that the country was behind the national football outfit.
The QFA President in his address to the players said the football family in the country fully backed the squad.
The QFA President said the team had prepared well for what would be a tough campaign in the UAE.
He said the team was keen to go as far as possible in the 24-team event.
The Qatar squad retired early on Saturday and did not train on the day they landed in the UAE.
Al-Annabi will take on Lebanon in their first match followed by clashes against North Korea and Saudi Arabia.
