Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Medical Committee praised the outstanding success of the 8th AFC Medical Conference, which concluded on Friday, during its fourth meeting in Malaysia’s capital on Saturday. Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari, CEO of Aspetar and Qatar Football Association’s representative, attended the session.

Dr. Datuk Gurcharan Singh, Committee Chairman, opened the meeting by hailing the conference as the most content-rich edition to date, emphasizing its pivotal role in advancing sports medicine and science across AFC members and regional associations.

He extended gratitude to the global sports medicine community, Aspetar (AFC’s key medical partner), guest speakers from FIFA and sister confederations, and the Malaysian government for their unwavering support. The three-day event featured intensive workshops, seminars, and a two-day pre-conference program.

Building on the conference’s success, the Committee tasked AFC management with selecting the 2027 host nation for the next edition. In a push for excellence, members also approved a new AFC Medical Award for accredited "Centres of Excellence," recognizing their contributions to research, education, and player healthcare.
