DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) on Sunday denied they were
pulling out of 2014 Gulf Cup to be held in Saudi Arabia this November,
declaring news reports as 'not true'.
QFA was reacting to news reports that Qatar would pull-out of the
event that draws the region's best teams for over two weeks every
couple of years.
The game's ruling body said Qatar has always considered the event as a
very important championship and Qatar makes great effort to send its
best squad for the event.
QFA also said Qatar is one of few teams that have featured in all
editions of the Gulf Cup since the event began in 1970.
QFA urged local and foreign media not to carry out news items without
clarifying with the game's ruling body in Qatar.
