DOHA: Qatar Football Association (QFA) on Wednesday parted ways with coach Djamel Belmadi on an 'amicable note', details haverevealed. According to statements madeby QFA President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani on Wednesday, it was decided to end Belmadi's reign with the Qatar national squad. "Mr. Belmadi was one of our finest coaches. He lifted the spirit of the national team players and carried out his tasks well," a QFA note said on Wednesday. "This period (since March 2014), Belmadi and QFA worked together well with a lot of understanding and eagerness to take the national squad forward," the statement added. Qatar will now focus on the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches and the 2019 Asian Cup qualifying fixtures with a new coach. "We are currently on the look-out for a new coach and we will make the announcement when we have some news to share," the statement said. "We thank Mr Belmadi for his services and cooperation. We got some very good results during his stint as coach. Qatar was crowned WAFF Champion when he was in charge of the national side," the statement added. Qatar also won the Gulf Cup last year in November but two months later Qatar got knocked out of Asian Cup finals with three losses in as many matches.
