DOHA: Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of Qatar
Football Association (QFA), on Monday headedthe association's yearly
General assembly meeting.
Saud Al Mohanadi, Vice President, QFA, joined officials Ahmed Abdul
Aziz, Ibrahim Khalil and representatives of Qatar Stars League (QSL)
sides at the meeting.
In his speech, QFA President highlighted Qatar's Gulf Cup win in Saudi
Arabia and the WAFF Championship triumph in January this year.
The QFA chief also lauded the performance of the Qatari junior squad
that won the Asian Cup Under-19 title in Myanmar in October.
QFA President hoped Qatar would perform well at next month's Asian Cup
to be held in Australia.
National team striker Khalfan Ibrahim's nomination for the AFC Asian
Player of the Year list was also applauded.
Qassim Burhan - who was named the Goalkeeper of the Tournament at last
month's Gulf Cup came in for special praise.
Matters relating to the QFA Executive Committee were also discussed.
QFA President congratulated Khalifa Khamis andAli Thawadi on joining
the QFA Executive Committee.
Khalifa Khamis is a former Al Sadd and Al Wakrah player and captained the Qatar national team.
