QFA holds level D coaching course for Afghan refugees

  Doha: The Development Department of the Qatar Football Association concluded the Level D coach training course for Afghan refugees who are being hosted by Qatar, which was organised throughout a week at their residence in Doha, with the participation of 25 students, including 13 female students. The closing ceremony of the course was attended by Mr. Fahad Thani Al-Zaraa, Director of the Development Department of the Qatar Federation, the Secretary of the Afghanistan Football Federation and the coach of the Afghan women's football team. The course was held under the supervision of the Mr. Hazem Al Harba, the AFC instructor, who was assisted by Mr. Saddam Azzouz and Mr. Muhammad Hegazy, in addition to the course coordinator, Mr. Mahmoud Shaker, and the administrator Abdulrahman Al-Mughaisib. Mr. Fahad Thani started the closing ceremony with a speech in which he welcomed the attendees, instructors and students participating in the course, on behalf of His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Qatar Football Association, and members of the Executive Office. He said: "The State of Qatar is known for its humanitarian approach towards all, and the country extends its hand to everyone across various fields, including football, which has gone beyond being just a physical sport. Football has become a means of development, interdependence and exchange of cultures and experiences among the peoples of the world. This is emphasised by the slogan announced by Qatar after winning the bid to organise the 2022 FIFA World Cup, calling the tournament ‘the World Cup of all Arabs’.” Mr. Fahad Thani praised the percentage of women’s attendance in the course, stressing that they are an important group in society and added that they must be involved in all possible sports activities, which prompted the Development Department to organise courses dedicated to them within the calendar of annual coaching courses. For his part, Mr. Hazem Al-Harba praised the commitment and diligence of the male and female students during the practical exercises and theoretical lectures of the course, and thanked the Development Department, headed by Mr. Fahad Thani Al-Zaraa, for their interest in developing all the elements of the game, and for all residents in Qatar.
