QFA Hosts Iftar for Indian Community

DOHA: Qatar Football Association (QFA) held an iftar for the Indian community to celebrate the Holy Month of Ramadan in Al Gassar Resort. Organising this iftar is part of QFA’s social responsibility events and overall plan in sports season 2014/2015 that aims to strengthen the relationship with the local communities in Qatar. The Iftar was attended by Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari, Acting Chief Operations Officer QFA, Sasi Kumar, Deputy Chief of Mission in the Indian Embassy in Qatar, Mohamed Quttub Events and Activities Leader in the Indian Community, and Shamsuddin Olakara, Representative from the Indian Community. Participating in the Iftar were over 500 representatives from the Indian Embassy, Indian Community, and Indian Committees that specialize in organising cultural and traditional programs and events. Deputy Chief of Mission in the Indian Embassy in Qatar, Sasi Kumar welcomed all the guests and thanked QFA for their ongoing support to the Indian Community and expressed the importance of supporting football initiatives and activities in Qatar. Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari, Acting COO of QFA welcomed guests and expressed gratitude towards the active support offered by the Indian Community throughout the years. The Iftar had a positive impact on the relationship between the community and QFA because it facilitated a discussion of future plans that are of mutual benefit. Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari, Acting COO of QFA commented: “We have a longstanding relationship with the Indian Community and intend to reinforce it this season. We will work together to support each other’s events and initiatives this year and in the upcoming years to come. Our aim is to spread the game of football and make it accessible to all different segments of the community; therefore, working with expat communities in Qatar allows us to do so in a successful manner.” QFA is set to organise the last Iftar gathering on Thursday 10th July which will include the rest of the communities such as the Indonesian, Sri Lankan, Nepalese, Malaysian, Singaporean, Chinese, Japanese, Jordanian, Lebanese, and Korean communities residing in Qatar.
