QFA 'looking into referee issue': QFA vice presedint

DOHA: Qatar Football Association (QFA) is looking into the refereecrisis, Vice President Saud Al Mohannadi has said.
Al Mohannadi was reacting to stories circulating on the social mediathat QFA's referees project was not 'being handled professionally'after seven QFA assistants haverefused to follow instructions during theweighting process during atraining course in Europe.

"Qatari referees are facing a crisis which requires strict action butwith wisdom. The Executive Committee of QFA is headed by Sheikh Hamadbin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani who is studying the matter with deepconcern," Al Mohannadi said.
"The president will consider different aspects of this crisis in orderto protect the Qatar referees project which started many years ago,"Al Mohannadi said.
"Mr Hana Balan has detailed in a press statement that our principle isclear on the matter. QFA will not allow anyone to twist its arm for aforced reaction on the matter. We are going to deal with what'shappened in a way to protect the Qatari referee system," he added in a
news report published on Sunday.

"Naji Jouni is a qualified and a capableman and he is the brains behind the project for the Qatari referees.It is his right to deal in a strict way with anyone who tries todamage the referees project - whether it is done with bad intent orotherwise," he said.

"Soon there will be open debate among the QFA Executive Committee, theReferees Committee and the referees to clear the air," Al Mohannadisaid.
"The local media has highlighted this issue recently. They always lookfor exclusive stories and we accept this positive criticism. Sometimestheir criticism is very severe but they are partners. I am confidentthat what's happening now it will pass on very quickly. We have seensuch crisis in the past," he added.
