DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al Thani on Saturday received in his office Mahmoud Al-Khatib, President of the Egyptian club Al-Ahly, after the conclusion of the 2020 Total African Super Cup.
On Friday, Egyptian giants Al Ahly extended their dominance of the African game with another trophy success as they beat Renaissance Berkane of Morocco 2-0 to clinch the African Super Cup in front of fans at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
The reception on Saturday was attended by Ali Daoud, Executive Director of the Office of QFA president, and Mansour Al Ansari, Secretary-General of QFA.
Wael Jumaa, the former Al-Ahly player and an analyst for beIN Sports, was also present.
The QFA President congratulated Mahmoud Al-Khatib and Al-Ahly Club on winning another trophy. It was the 7th African Super Cup win for the famous Egyptian side.
The QFA President praised Al-Ahly’s performance and the spirit of the club’s players. The QFA chief also commended the LOC for conducting the event in a befitting manner.
For his part, Al-Khatib thanked the QFA for the warm reception and generous hospitality throughout Al-Ahly’s stay in Doha.
He appreciated the interest and cooperation extended to his club’s contingent from the moment of their arrival in Doha last Tuesday.
Al-Khatib also praised the LOC teams for ‘brilliantly conducting the event.
