Doha: His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Qatar Football Association, received in his office at Al-Bidda Tower on Wednesday, a number of heads of football federations from brotherly countries who are currently in the Qatari capital Doha to attend the 72nd FIFA Congress, which is scheduled to be held on Thursday at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.
During the meetings, they discussed topics of common interest and the importance of activating them and ways to develop them in the coming period to serve football and enhance the frameworks of joint cooperation between the QFA and other federations.
From the Qatari side, the meetings were attended by Mr. Mansour Al-Ansari, QFA General Secretary, Mr. Ali Daoud, Executive Director of the President's Office, and Mr. Mushtaq Al-Waeli, Executive Director of the QFA's Strategic and Institutional Development Office.
Bilateral meetings
His Excellency the President received Mr. Victor Montagliani, President of Concacaf, and Mr. Felipe Moggio, the organisation's General Secretary in a meeting which came as continuation of the great relationship between the two presidents, reinforced by the strategic partnership between the two sides.
Similarly, the President of the QFA received Mr. Oliet Rodriguez, President of the Cuban Football Federation, and his accompanying delegation, which included Mr. Miguel Diaz, General Secretary and Mr. Jose Herranz, Technical Director.
After that, His Excellency received the delegation of the South Sudan Football Association, which comprised the President Mr. Augustino Parek, Vice President Mr. Charles Ukech, and General Secretary Mr. Victor Lual.
H.E. the QFA President also received Dr. Mutasim Sirelkhatim, President of the Sudanese Football Association, along with Mr. Osama Abobakir, Vice President, and Mr. Moataz Mohamed Latif, Head of Legal Affairs Department.
Strong ties
These meetings represent a continuation of the special relations between H.E. the President of the QFA and his counterparts from across the global football family, which are characterised by strong ties and the potential to expand past further horizons, carrying football's higher ideals.
The President completed the reception of his guests from across the world, by meeting with representatives of the football federations of Brunei Darussalam, Rwanda and India.
The delegation from Brunei included Mr. Matusin Matasan Pengiran, President of the Brunei Darussalam Football Association; Mr. Mohamed Salleh, General Secretary; and Mr. Nezib Mohamed, a member of the Executive Committee, along with H.E. Ambassador Muhamed Bahrin Abu Bakr, Brunei Darussalam's ambassador to the country.
The meeting with the Rwandan officials saw H.E. the QFA President receive his counterpart, Mr. Oliver Mugabo, President of the Rwandan Football Association, and Mr. Henri Muhire, the General Secretary.
The bilateral discussions were concluded by the H.E. the QFA President's reception of Mr. Praful Patil, President of the All-India Football Federation and a member of the FIFA Council, and his accompanying delegation.
