DOHA: Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Qatar Football Association (QFA), received in his office on Monday Sheikh Ahmed Al-Eissi, President of the Yemen Football Association (YFA).
Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Mohannadi, Vice President of QFA, and Dr Hamid Al Shaibani, Secretary-General of YFA, were also present.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Yemen U-23 team featuring in the Asian qualifiers for the 2022 AFC Asian Cup – Uzbekistan. Yemen are part of Group A with Qatar, Syria and Sri Lanka. The qualifiers is taking place in Doha from Oct 25-31.
The discussions on Monday dealt with the outstanding relations between the two brotherly federations. The two officials talked about ways to enhance joint cooperation to enhance the ties between the two federations and contribute to their development.
After the reception ceremony ended, the QFA President and his Yemeni counterpart signed a Memorandum of Understanding that is expected to serve as a road map for future cooperation of taking the game forward in Qatar and Yemen and ensuring its development at the local, Asian and international levels.
Al-Eissi thanked Qatar for the support extended by QFA President. The YFA President assured of his complete confidence in the continuation of cooperation to develop football.
