DOHA: Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Qatar Football Association (QFA), received on Sunday HE Omar Al-Barzanji, Ambassador of Iraq to Qatar.
This visit on Sunday came within the framework of strengthening the longstanding relations between the two brotherly countries.
The meeting was attended by Saud Al-Mohannadi, Vice President of QFA, and Mansour Al-Ansari, Secretary General of QFA.
During the meeting, the visiting Ambassador discussed issues of mutual interest and sought cooperation between Iraq and Qatar in the field of football.
The Ambassador said Iraq was keen to activate exchange programs that would help develop sports in both countries especially football.
The discussions also centered around Iraq's ongoing preparations to host the 25th edition of the Gulf Cup in the Iraqi province of Basra.
For his part, the Iraqi ambassador thanked QFA for offering technical assistance in helping Iraq host the next Gulf Cup.
