DOHA: A special committee formed by Qatar Football Association (QFA) has investigated claims of corruption on social medium 'Twitter' by Mr Ahmed Mubarak Al Shafi. Two special meetings were convened by the six-member committee and a number of key points were raised. Mr Ahmed Mubarak Al Shafi's allegations of match-fixing during the last round of the Qatar Stars League (QSL) season were also debated extensively by the special QFA committee. The first meeting of the committee was held on May 1, 2014, when it was decided to inform Mr Ahmed Mubarak Al Shafi the reasons for the formation of the interim QFA committee. Mr Ahmed Mubarak Al Shafi was asked to provide evidence on his allegations of malpractice during any football game played on Qatar soil. In the second meeting, it was decided to inform Mr Ahmed Mubarak Al Shafi to bring in his lawyer and prepare a draft of his allegations after Mr Ahmed Mubarak Al Shafi had asked the chairman of the QFA's interim committee on the mechanism of the inquiry. Mr Ahmed Mubarak Al Shafi was also urged to bring 'evidence' on his claims. After being informed on the mechanism, Mr Ahmed Mubarak Al Shafi refused to turn up for the key meeting with QFA's interim committee investigating the claims of corruption. Mr Ahmed Mubarak Al Shafi informed of his inability to attend the second meeting via a text to one of the members of the QFA committee. The QFA's committee concluded that Mr Ahmed Mubarak Al Shafi did not cooperate in any way to complete the investigations on Mr Ahmed Mubarak Al Shafi's claims of corruption. The QFA's committee also concluded that there was no grounds on which Mr Ahmed Mubarak Al Shafi's allegations of corruption could be be deemed true. The committee has submitted a detailed report to QFA on the matter.
