DUBLIN, Republic of Ireland: Producing a commanding performance, hosts the Republic of Ireland beat visiting Qatar, the Asian champions, 4-0 at the Aviva Stadium. A superb hattrick by Callum Robinson (4the minute, 13th minute, penalty and 53rd minute) powered the boys in green to their win. Shane Duffy also added his name to the scorer's list in the 59th minute. In just the fourth minute, Robinson produced a right-footed shot from outside the box to the top left corner following an assist by Conor Hourihane. A few minutes later, Qatar's Karim Boudiaf conceded a penalty with a foul on Jamie McGrath. Robinson converted the penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner in the 13th minute. In the 20th minute, Qatar skipper Hassan Al Haydos managed a right-footed shot from outside the box but missed the target as the ball flew past the goalpost on the right following an assist by Abdelkarim Hassan. In the 35th minute, John Egan produced a header from the centre of the box but the deflection was a tad too high after an assist by Hourihane following a corner. Ireland jumped to a 3-0 lead when Robinson – the West Bromwich Albion in form forward - completed his hattrick. After receiving a cross from Jeff Hendrick, Robinson produced a right-footed shot from the right side of the box to the centre of the goal. A minute from the hour-mark, Brighton & Hove Albion defender Duffy produced a header from the centre of the box to the top right corner after an assist by Hourihane with a cross following a corner. In the 73rd minute, Qatar coach Felix Sanchez benched Al Moez Ali and Abdulaziz Hatem and brought in Ahmed Alaaeldin and Assim Madibo; however, the Irish wrapped up their 4-0 win with ease. Tonight's game was only the second match between the two sides. Early this year, Qatar and the Republic of Ireland played a 1-1 draw at Nagyerdei Stadium in Hungary. On Saturday, Qatar lost 3-0 to Portugal that featured Cristiano Ronaldo. Qatar squad now returns to Doha on Wednesday.
