Stage set for QFA Cup start on Thursday

DOHA: The coordination meeting of the QFA Cup, which starts Thursday, was held on Wednesday via video communication technology. The meeting was chaired by Ali Hammoud Al-Nuaimi, head of the competitions department of QFA, in the presence of Hussein Al-Sharshni, and the managers of the 17 teams participating in the tournament. The meeting discussed the final preparations for the matches and the terms of the competition in detail. The competition system was also discussed. The competition will be held in four stages leading up to the final match. The teams' kits' colours were set and the matchday countdown, and all other organizational matters related to the competition. The meeting also stressed the importance of following the preventive measures applied by QFA in its competitions in light of the Covid-19 situation. Al-Nuaimi explained that the competition would witness matches at Al-Irsal Stadium, which has been well equipped to host the QFA Cup matches. On Thursday, two matches will be held: Al Ahli vs Mesaimeer at Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium Al Khor vs Al-Bada at Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium The matches of the first round will resume the next day, Friday, April 16, 2021, with three games: Umm Salal vs Muaither at Al Sailiya Stadium Qatar SC vs Al Shahaniya at Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium hosts Al Gharafa vs Al Markhiya at Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium hosts The matches of the first week will be concluded on Saturday, the 17th of this month, with games involving Al Arabi, Al Shamal, Al Waab and Lusail at Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium. Participating teams and groups Group A: Al Ahli, Al Khor, Al Bada and Al Sailiya. Group B: Al Gharafa, Qatar SC, Al Shahaniya and Al Markhiya. Group C: Al Wakrah, Umm Salal and Muaither.
