DOHA: The ball was set rolling on Monday for the start of the new football season with a technical meeting for Wednesday's Sheikh Jassim Cup final.
Al Sadd - the Emir Cup champions - take on Qatar Stars League (QSL) winners Lekhwiya in the one-off game at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium on Wednesday. On Monday, the technical committee meeting took place at Al Bidda Tower - the home of football in the country. Ali Hamoud al-Naimi, the chief organiser of the final, headed Monday's technical meeting attended by officials from both teams.
It was confirmed that the teams will reach the match venue two hours before the kick-off time of 7:00pm on Wednesday.
Al Sadd will sport white shorts and jerseys while Lekhwiya will wear red and grey colors on Wednesday. Last week, Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced that it will donate the Sheikh Jassim Cup revenue to victims of Gaza.
Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari, Acting COO of QFA, said: “As part of our social responsibility, we will be cooperating with our partner, ROTA, where it will be in charge of all the necessary procedures that ensure the revenue of the match is sent to the victims of the Gaza Strip."
Monday's meeting will be followed on Tuesday by the pre-final press conferences to be attended by the coaches of Al Sadd and Lekhwiya.
