DOHA: Syria has been allowed to appear in the West Asian Championship for under 23 teams, football officials from the organizing confirmed.
The much-awaited event for the regional Olympic squads will be held in Doha from September 30 to October 14.
Hamad Al Mannai, Director of the West Asian Championship, said the event will feature 11 teams to be divided into three groups in the back ofKuwait’s withdrawl from the competetion.
He said football officials from the region will arrive in Doha on Saturday to discuss matters relating to the event.
The draws of the event will be held on September 6.
The matches will be held at Al Arabi Stadium and Al Ahli Stadium.
