RIYADH: Striker Bualem Khouki on Wednesday said Qatar football fans couldn't have wished for a better gift after Al Anabi stunned Saudi Arabia 2-1 to win the Gulf Cup. Bualem, who scored the match-winner in the 58th minute, said: "We deserved to win the Gulf Cup. We performed really well in the entire tournament. I think we proved many people wrong. I am sure this is the perfect gift for our fans." He added: "It was a difficult game against a very tough side backed by thousands of fans. We were confident of winning the game." Bualem said: "The boys did not get nervous or get overwhelmed in front of such a huge crowd. Despite their early (Saudi) goal we knew we would fight back." Boualem said that Qatar's Algerian coach Djamel Belmadi planned meticulously ahead of the final, adding that 'Qatar was ready to fight till the last minute'.
