DOHA: Jose Daniel Carreno will coach Qatar, it was announced by Qatar
Football Association (QFA) on Tuesday.
Carreno, who manages Qatar Stars League (QSL) side Al Arabi, will
replace Algerian Djamal Belmadi.
The Uruguayan - commonly known as "El Crespo" - will take over as
coach for Qatar's 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches, QFA said in
a statement.
Carreno played as a striker and spent the majority of his playing
career at Montevideo Wanderers.
The 52-year-old is not new to the Middle East, having managed Saudi
side Al Nassr before signing up with Al Arabi.
Qatar's 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches commence in June this year.
Carreno will be third coach for Qatar since January 2014. Qatari
national Fahad Thani was replaced by Belmadi in March 2014.
