Al Arabi Sports Club was established in 1952 and was originally located in the old Al-Hitmi area. It is regarded as one of the historic football clubs in Qatar. 

Known as a cradle of talent, the club has contributed significantly to Qatari sports by producing numerous administrators, players, and coaches across various disciplines—especially in football, where Al Arabi has enjoyed great success. 

The team was famously nicknamed the “Dream Team” by the local press during the 1992–1993 season, drawing a comparison to the iconic U.S. basketball Dream Team. During the early 1990s, Al Arabi dominated domestic competitions, securing multiple titles and achieving decisive victories over its rivals. 

Thanks to its accomplishments during that golden era, Al Arabi was honored with the title “Club of the Century” in Qatar, in recognition of its championships, consistency, and fierce competitiveness.
