Al Rayyan Sports Club has a rich and storied history dating back to its official establishment in 1967, following the merger of the former Al Rayyan team with Al Nusoor team under the unified name Al Rayyan Sports Club. 

Al Rayyan is considered one of the most prestigious sports institutions—not only in Qatar and the Gulf region, but across the Arab world and the Asian continent. The club boasts a legacy filled with remarkable achievements and numerous victories. 

For years, the dream of establishing Al Rayyan Sports Club inspired the people of the region. Countless meetings and discussions were held to lay down a solid foundation that would ensure the club’s successful launch—one strong enough to carry the club’s legacy into the present day. The area where the club was founded was known for its abundance of athletic talent and individuals with exceptional sporting abilities. 

The historic moment came in 1967, bringing great joy to the fans and supporters of Al Rayyan, with the club’s official recognition and inclusion among Qatar’s national clubs. The first president of Al Rayyan Sports Club was Engineer Hamad Al Marri.
