DOHA: Up and coming Qatari talent Akram Afif stole the limelight in
his first appearance with Belgium's second division side K.A.S. Eupen
as he provided three decisive assists in the 5-3 victory over K.R.C. Mechelen.
Earlier this month, Afif completed the move to Belgium to reinforce the
fire power of the club attempting to qualify for the senior league in
Belgium.
The move saw Afif join Qatar U-20 teammates Ahmed Al Saadi, Ahmed
Moin and Fahad Abdulrahman at the club currently fifth in the Belgian
second division league.
Afif, a gifted striker, was an exceptional standout as the Qatari junior
squad made history and claimed their maiden AFC U-19 Championship
title after a 1-0 victory over DPR Korea in the final in Myanmar last October.
Qatar is poised to feature in the 2015 U-20 World Cup in New Zealand next
June, a first return to the biennial tournament since hosting it in 1995.
