MUSCAT, OMAN: Star studded Al Arabi shockingly crashed
out of the GCC Club Championship following a 1-2 defeat at
the hands of Oman’s Al Seeb on Tuesday.
This is Al Arabi’s second defeat on the trot following last week’s match
in Dubai when group leaders Al Shabbab of UAE put unanswered three
goals past keeper Rajab Hamza.
Romanian Mirel Rădoi opened the scoring for the away side when he
galloped clear of the Omani defense before coolly slotting the ball into
the top left corner with just 13 minutes gone.
Al Seeb plugged away and found themselves back in the game on 75 minutes
when Former Oman international Ahmed Hadid pulled one back, only for
substitute Khalid Al Hamdani scored the winner five minutes later. This kicked
off a late surge of pressure on the hosts’ end of the pitch as the clock run out
at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex Stadium but they withstood the onslaught to
confirm a place in the next round alongside Al Shabbab.
