DOHA: Prolific striker Hassan Al Haydous netted twice as Qatar emerged victorious 2-1 over Turkmenistan in a friendly match held at Thani bin Jassim Stadium. Al Haydous opened the scoring on 12 minutes after being astutely set up be Akram Afif. Al Sadd striker added the second just two minutes inside the second half from the penalty spot. The visitors narrowed the deficit just three minutes after. This was Qatar’s fourth match in the sea of two weeks following three friendlies during a UK training camp where they played Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Andorra. Stationed at St George’s Park, Qatar have used the camp to prepare for two upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Syria and China. St George’s Park is the English Football Association’s national football centre on a 330-acre site at Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire. The Qatar team will take on Syria in Malaysia on August 31 in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying game. Qatar take on China on September 5 in Doha at Khalifa International Stadium in their last Asian Zone qualifying fixture.
