DOHA: Al Kharaitiyat on Friday beat Al Ahli 4-2 in a penalty shootout to
reach the quarterfinals of the Emir Cup.
After both sides finished at 3-3 in regulation time, Al Kharaitiyat held
their nerve to beat Al Ahli in the spot kick contest at Al Arabi Stadium.
Anuar Diba smashed a brace (61 and 78) before Domingos Mascimento
hammered in one late in the second half (90) to force the game into
penalties for Al Kharaitiyat.
For Al Ahli, Cristian Óscar Maidana (19), Yaseen Al Shikawi (33) and
Ali Fariduddin (56) scored the goals in regulation time.
Al Chikawi was yellow carded in the 20th minute.
The Emir Cup final will be played on May 19, the last day of the
football season in Qatar.
