Al Rayyan beat Al Khor, inch closer to QSL title

DOHA: Qatar Stars League leaders Al Rayyan left it late to beat Al Khor on a night when they lost captain Rodrigo Tabata to injury. Sebastian Soria was the Lions’ hero with a goal in the 78th minute at Al Sadd Stadium. It was reward for Rayyan’s persistence and means they now sit 16 points clear at the top with only eight games to go. It will take something extraordinary to deny Rayyan a first titlesince 1995. Meanwhile, Al Arabi continued their good work, shocking champions Lekhwiya 1-0, with Ahmed Al Nahowi scoring the all-important goal in the 31st. The win helped Arabi move up to fourth position. Elsewhere,Al Kharaitiyat and Al Ahli played out a 1-1 draw. Kharaitiyat went in front after 30 minutes thanks to a penalty from Yahia Kebe whileAhli finally got on level terms in the 77th minute through Meshaal Abdullah.
