DOHA: Al Rayyan twice came from behind to snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat against Al Sadd in the 14th-round derby of the Qatar Stars League at the Al Rayyan Stadium on Friday. Hassan Al Haidous twice put Sadd ahead in the 27th and 79th minutes, but Sayaf Al Korbi (52nd) and goalkeeper Omar Bari (94th) ensured Rayyan returned with a deserving point. The day of League resumption had more surprises in store. While Al Sailiya held two-time champions Lekhwiya goalless, Al Arabi inflicted more pain on El Jaish by defeating them 2-1. Brazilian striker Wanderley Santos (32nd and 90th) scored for the winners while Wagner Ribeiro (37th) was Jaish’s lone scorer. In the day’s other action, Al Kharaitiyat defeated Al Wakrah 3-2. Youssef Kaddioui (4th) and Jaycee John (8th) gave Kharaitiyat an early two-goal cushion, while Sebastian Saez (34th) and Hussein Yasser (55th) struck to make it 2-2. However, Mahmoud Saad (58th) ensured full points for the men in blue.
