DOHA: Qatar Stars League (QSL) side Al Ahli on Sunday beat Division
Two champions Al Markhiya 2-0 to advance to the third round of the Emir
Cup.
In a game played at the Grand Hamad Stadium, Al Ahli were powered home
by Yaseen Al-Chekhaoui and Mohsen Yazidi who scored in the 41st and
71st minutes respectively.
Al Ahli will now face Al Kharittiyat in third third-round clash on Friday.
The men in green produced a good quality in the second half of the
match as they sealed a comfortable win at Al Arabi Stadium.
Al Markhiya, who will appear in the QSL from next season, produced
good moves in patches on Sunday but were no match to the fitness and
form exhibited by Al Ahli.
Al Shahaniya on Sunday beat Al Wakrah 5-3 on penalties to
advance to the third round of the Emir Cup.
In a match played at Al Arabi Stadium, Khalid Abdullah opened the
scoring for Al Shahaniya in the 5th minute of the match.
However, Al Wakrah produced the equaliser through Jassim Ahmed in the
79th minute.
Both teams failed to score again as a penalty shoot-out was called for.
In the penalty shoot-out, Al Shahaniya kept their nerve to emerge 5-3
winners and book a date with Umm Salal in round three.
