DOHA: Asian Sports Press Committee (ASPC) on Thursday lauded the decisions to establishtheGulf Football Federation (GFF).
The football chiefs from GCC countries gathered for key meetings in the Qatari capital on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The GCC football chiefs endorsed the decisions taken by GFF to develop the game in the region.
Officials said on Thursday there is immense talent in the region and unmatched passion for football from young fans.
The ASPC also praised the decision to base GFF headquarters in Doha.
It wassaid Doha clearly holds a commanding position in its attempt to popularisethe sport in the region.
The meeting was unanimous in acknowledging the role played by the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani to make sports a matter of lifestyle in Qatar.
It was decided that GFF will officially elect a president in a meeting scheduled to be held in May.
Next month GFF will also announce details of new events involving all GCC countries and Arab nations like Iraq and Yemen.
