DOHA: Hani Balan, the CEO of Qatar Stars League Management (QSLM), on
Thursday chaired the AFC Referees Committee meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
Balan, who is the Vice Chairman of the AFC referees committee, was
chairing themeeting in the absence of Chairman Zhang Jilong.
The matters of topic discussed at the meeting included forging a
platform for the development of football refereeing at all levels of
the game in Asia.
The committee agreed on the proposal of organizing a high level
workshop of experts who would dig deep into technical matters of the
sport. The workshop is expected to be organised later this year.
The committee will also name the top referees and assist the new
entrants at academies around the region.
The committee also reviewed the minutes of the AFC U-23 Championship
held in Qatar in January this year.
Balan praised the roles of referees at the Doha championship but
stressed the importance of improving standards with the passage of
time.
