DOHA: Qatar coach Daniel Carreno on Saturday said his side has
faced a 'strong' Turkey team in an international friendly on Friday.
Hosts Qatar lost 1-2 on Turkey at Lekhwiya Stadium.
"We will facing a strong Turkey side, yet we managed to show
character" Carreno said on Saturday.
"It was a good opportunity for us to prepare ahead of our game against
Bhutan," he added.
Qatar will face Bhutan in a 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2019 Asian Cup
joint qualifying match on November 17 in an away fixture.
"Our preparations began a few days ago. During this period, we
trained with two games in mind - one friendly against Turkey and then
our game against Bhutan (November 17)," Carreno said.
"I have already announced the list of players. There are a few changes
(from the last game) since my players have picked up injuries. But I
feel I still have a group of players that can deliver for us in the match
against Bhutan," he added.
"Our target from the Turkey clash was to assess ourselves in front of
A top class team, I believe we matched them in terms of competitiveness"
Carreno said.
Carreno said Qatar will miss the services of influential striker
Khalfan Ibrahim.
